A woodshop where "good enough" isn't
Some of northern California's finest woodworkers make beautiful furniture in a converted winery . . .
. . . with rooftop sentries standing guard.
We turn wood into art, using hand tools, old-world craftsmanship, and modern designs.
The source of our wood: surrounding North Coast trees, like the Buckeye, Madrone, Bay Laurel, Tan Oak, Douglas Fir and Redwood above. Carefully selected, one tree at a time.
Located on this Mendocino ridge-top where sheep once grazed . . . you can see the shop, next to the pond, in the middle of a vineyard. Come visit, and we'll pour some wine while you shop for furniture. From cabernet to cabinet.
No log is too big for Jim 'Chainsaw' Shaw and his hot-rod Husqvarna. "I've been milling wood since the '70s and these pepperwood slabs are my favorite -- and likely the most beautiful I've ever milled," says Jim.
Next come some ideas . . . . . . small-scale models . . .
. . . full scale construction drawings . . .
. . . we make hand tools, we use machine tools . . . .
. . . clamps and glue mean we're almost done . . .
. . . now rags and tung oil. We're getting closer.
